Sovright is a US 501(c3) non-profit dedicated to supporting human autonomy. Starting with a focus on Zcash infrastructure, mining, protocol development, and ecosystem support the project builds tools and services intended to strengthen private digital currency infrastructure and support the long-term resilience of the Zcash network.
Sovright was previously known as Bootstrap. The original name reflected the organizations early goal of bootstrapping a Zcash infrastructure company from the ground up.
The name Sovright is a compound of sovereign and right. It reflects the organizations focus on individual sovereignty, privacy, and the right to choose how personal data, money, communications, compute, and online activity are controlled.
Sovrights work began with Zcash, a privacy-preserving cryptocurrency that uses zero-knowledge cryptography to support shielded transactions. Over time, the organizations focus expanded beyond private money to include broader infrastructure concerns, including secure communications, resilient networks, private compute, and secure AI interactions.
Sovright operates a Zcash mining pool at:
The Sovright Mining Pool is designed to support miner sovereignty and reduce mining pool concentration. Mining pool concentration is a recurring concern in proof-of-work networks because a small number of pools can end up controlling a large share of network hashrate. This can weaken decentralization and increase reliance on the behavior of major pool operators.
The Sovright Mining Pool is intended for solo miners, small operators, and other participants who want to support a more decentralized Zcash mining ecosystem. The pool emphasizes transparent payout logic, auditability, and minimal operational fees.
The current testnet version does not provide payouts and is intended for testing only.
Network resilience refers to the reliability and robustness of the infrastructure that carries Zcash transactions. Private transactions depend not only on cryptography, but also on the availability and reliability of the network infrastructure beneath them.
Sovright identifies network resilience as a foundational area of work for maintaining the practical security and usability of Zcash.
Financial sovereignty refers to the ability of individuals to control and access their own funds without relying on permission from intermediaries. In the context of Zcash, this includes private payments, self-custody, and infrastructure that allows users to transact on their own terms.
Sovright treats financial access and user-controlled money as core components of individual sovereignty.
