Zcash Community Grants
Mission Statement
The Zcash Community Grants program funds independent teams entering the Zcash ecosystem, to perform major ongoing development (or other work) for the public good of the Zcash ecosystem.
People and Teams
The Zcash Community Grants is managed by a committee, which currently consists of five people. This community reviews and approves grant applications from third party teams who want to build on the Zcash protocol. More info on the Team
Recent projects that have been approved by the ZCG are Zcash Shielded Assets (ZSA) led by the QEDIT team. Bringing DeFi to ZEC with Zcash with a new payments protocol adding additional features to the Zcash mainnet.
Zcash Media's Short Documentary featuring notable Zcashers such as Edward Snowden, Zooko & Deirdre Connolly with the purpose of creating relevant, entertaining and educational videos to be widely shared.
Hardware wallets integration of Ledger to fully support Sapling shielded transactions, this allows Zcash to be stored privately & securely. This has been carried out by the Zondax Team.
An Easy one-click shielded payment and Point-of-sale system for brick and mortar shops SDK being undertaken by ZGo.
The Global Ambassador program helps Zcash gain broader representation internationally and for in-person community events around the world.

Organizational Structure
The Zcash Community Grants is an independent organization from the Electric Coin Company and the Zcash Foundation.
Funding
The Electric Coin Company receives 8% of the Zcash development fund . They use these funds to support third party development teams and also for internal operations.

How to Submit a Grant Application via ZCG (GitHub + Community Forum)
Step 1: Prepare Your Proposal
Create a clear proposal including:
- Project title and applicant details
- Problem statement and proposed solution
- Deliverables, timeline, and milestones
- Budget and funding request
- Relevant experience and risks
Step 2: Submit on GitHub
- Go to the Zcash Community Grants GitHub repository
- Open the Issues tab and click New Issue
- Select the appropriate grant application template
- Complete all required fields and submit
The GitHub issue is the official application record.
Step 3: Create a Community Forum Post
- Go to the Zcash Community Forum
- Create a new thread in the Zcash Community Grants category
- Use the same title as the GitHub issue
- Add a short summary and include a link to the GitHub issue
Step 4: Engage in Review
- Monitor the GitHub issue and forum thread
- Respond to questions and feedback from the ZCG Committee and community
Step 5: Outcome
- Approved proposals proceed to funding and reporting
- Unapproved proposals MAY be revised and resubmitted
